The original Maker Faire in San Mateo, California attracted over 150,000 people this year and has inspired hundreds of Maker Faires like it around the world in what has been dubbed the "Maker Movement". Progressive educators have connected with the like-minded ideals of: creativity, play, hands-on-learning, community, and a DIY attitude championed by the Maker Movement.
Inspired by the Maker Movement our well resourced "Makerspace" has been an integral part of our learning environment for the past four years helping infuse design thinking, STEAM, and digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers and a laser cutter into our general curriculum.
Come see how we use Google Apps to support our Makerspace learning environment and learn how even even simple apps such as "drawing" can be utilized to fabricate architectural structures on a laser cutter or be used to create complex 3D printed objects.
